Prof. Daniël Baert
Biography
Daniel Baert received his degree in electro-technical Engineering
in 1963 from the State University of
Ghent and immediately became a research assistent at the Electronics laboratory. In 1973
he obtained the Dr. (equivalent to a Ph.D.) degree with a work about
the suppression of radio-frequency interference with non-linear
filters.
Courses
- Analog integrated circuits (until 1987)
- Fundamental electrical measurements (see course program of
Faculty of Applied Sciences or the ELIS information
brochure).
- Applied electricity (idem).
Former research topics
- E.M.C.
- Photovoltaic system design: dimensioning of components (p.v. panel,
batteries, invertor,...)
- dc-ac convertors for grid-connected and UPS applications. This
research resulted in a very high efficiency (>90%) UPS invertor (48V
dc to 230V ac) which is now under production in a Belgian company.
Current research topics
- Signal conditioning, phase-error cancelation in opamp circuits.
- Electro-chemical batteries: modeling of lead-acid batteries, parameter
determination, charging methods,...
Special interests and hobby's
Collects (and repairs) antique radios, loves science history and
enjoys walking.
