Prof. Daniël Baert

Biography

Daniel Baert received his degree in electro-technical Engineering in 1963 from the State University of Ghent and immediately became a research assistent at the Electronics laboratory. In 1973 he obtained the Dr. (equivalent to a Ph.D.) degree with a work about the suppression of radio-frequency interference with non-linear filters.

Courses

  1. Analog integrated circuits (until 1987)
  2. Fundamental electrical measurements (see course program of Faculty of Applied Sciences or the ELIS information brochure).
  3. Applied electricity (idem).

Former research topics

  1. E.M.C.
  2. Photovoltaic system design: dimensioning of components (p.v. panel, batteries, invertor,...)
  3. dc-ac convertors for grid-connected and UPS applications. This research resulted in a very high efficiency (>90%) UPS invertor (48V dc to 230V ac) which is now under production in a Belgian company.

Current research topics

  1. Signal conditioning, phase-error cancelation in opamp circuits.
  2. Electro-chemical batteries: modeling of lead-acid batteries, parameter determination, charging methods,...

Special interests and hobby's
