Back to the conference page

Limited WiFi internet access will be available to the conference attendants on a first come, first served basis.

The access will be free of charge, but not anonymous, and involves the use of a temporary VPN account.

The internet access will require the VPN component to be activated on your computer. Below is explained how to do that in Windows XP. If you have another operating system, please check with your system manager how you should perform this action.

Activating the VPN component in Windows XP:
Open My Network Places
Click "View Network Connections"
Click "Create a New Connection"
A wizard will start to make a new connection.
Click Next
Under Network Connection Type choose the second option, that mentions VPN, and click Next
In the following dialog again choose the second option  [VPN] and click Next.
In the following dialog type a name for the connection and click Next.
If you encounter the window "Public Network", select the first option.
In the next dialog enter the IP address of the VPN router. In the case of UGentNet this is 157.193.46.4
Click Next
From now on, under Network Connections, there will be a new icon for the VPN connection. If you double click that icon, you will be asked for a username and a password. Enter the username and password that you received at the registration desk.
