How to reach us
On the
campus
As of October 1st, 2021 a new access control and
parking system has been introduced at the campus. Details:
New Tech Lane parking system.
After entering the campus through the main
entrance and passing the access control barriers, go straight on at the roundabout. After 200m, you will
pass the VIB-building on the left, immediately turn left after
passing this building. Follow the 2-way road to the end and then
turn left, you can park your car on the 2nd parking (C2) at your
left (parking located between buildings 125 and 131).
Our building, the iGent tower, is opposite the parking; CMST is on the 6th floor.
For overflow parkings, please have a look at the
site map.

Public transport
There are frequent trains from Brussels airport to Ghent (mostly
with a change of trains in Brussels). You can plan your journey on
the
web site of the Belgian Railway (NMBS).
Trains arrive at
station 'Gent St Pieters'.
From the station you can travel to the park
by public transport
(bus, tram or Blue Bike) or by taxi (available at the main exit of
the station).
Driving instructions
Instead of using a navigator, you can also get to our facilities
using the following simple driving instructions.
If you are coming from:
Kortrijk (or Lille): On highway E17
(Antwerpen/Kortrijk), take exit 8 "De Pinte/Zevergem" and turn
right in the direction of "Gent N60". Then skip to "On
the N60".

Airports
There is no airport in Ghent, but there are airports in four
neighbouring cities:
-
By car from
Brussels airport (Zaventem) to Ghent, it takes only 40
minutes under ideal circumstances, but due to the heavy
traffic around Brussels, it is safer to plan a journey of
60 up to 90 minutes. By train from Brussels airport: see
public transport.
-
Coming from France, it is often better to fly to
Lille airport and rent a car there.
From Lille airport to Ghent (Gand) by car takes about 60
minutes. There is a
shuttle bus (20 minutes) from the airport to the Lille-Europe train station,
where you can take a train to Ghent. See
public transport.
-
The
airport of Antwerp
is conveniently small but has only a limited number of
direct connections. From Antwerp airport to Ghent by car
takes about 45 minutes.
-
The
airport of Ostend
is small and has only a limited number of connections. From Ostend airport to Ghent by car takes about 45
minutes.
Where
to stay?
You'll find a list of hotels and other types of
accommodation on the
tourist
information website of Ghent. There is also a list of
excellent
Bed&Breakfast
facilities. There are no hotels at walking distance from our lab
(although there is a luxury B&B at 2 km), so you will need to
use a taxi, a rental car or the public transport. The hotel
staff can probably help you with the correct bus lines.
Tourist
information
Maybe you wonder if it is worthwhile booking a
few extra days to visit Ghent. It certainly is! Ghent is a
cozy and interesting city with a long history and plenty of
